Camera Sensor : Rivaling Human Eyes !!


Smartphone photography is something which is trending the most in today’s society. Camera of smartphone have evolved beyond anyone’s imagination. From a VGA camera in a feature phone to many megapixel smartphone cameras , companies have bought a revolution.

Coming to a better performing smartphone camera samsung was the one who introduced the world to a 64MP & 108MP sensor. It was too hard to fit a large size camera sensor in a smartphone. To fix the problem of fitting large camera sensor in a smartphone samsung came out with the idea of pixel binning ISOCELL technology. Later on Sony started making large smartphone camera sensor using same technology. Currently Samsung uses quad- binning technology in 64 MP camera sensor in which cluster of 4×4 small pixels from a 16 MP camera binds up to form a super pixel. Whereas in 108MP Camera sensor, company uses Nona-binnig technology to combine 9×9 small pixel cluster from a 12MP camera into a large super pixel.

In making bigger and better camera sensor Samsung literally had came far across than 64 and 108 MP.

Samsung has announced 600MP sensors to be launched soon. It really sounds humongous Coz it’s more than estimated mega pixels of a human eye (576MP). Have anyone ever imagined that one day we will have a camera more effective than our eyes. But it’s true that samsung is really bringing a huge revolution in smartphone camera sensor.

Samsung has came across this idea to retain the image quality when zoomed in in image as well as in 4K & 8K resolution videos in trend.
The camera sensor is going to be as large as 1/0.57″ which is really really big having a module thickness of 22mm. It will cover approximately 12% of the back panel. Samsung plans to do it by the same ISOCELL technology currently being used in 64MP and 108MP camera sensor. Once the problem of fitting huge 22 mm into a smartphone back panel, Samsung will launch this camera in higher price segment smartphones probably Galaxy S series or Galaxy Note series.
